Kinsale Arts Festival

Kinsale Arts Festival was an annual ten day festival of arts, culture and commissioned projects, taking place in a unique seaside town in Cork, Ireland. Marie served as Festival Director for two terms 2013-2014, delivering two festivals celebrating the landscape.

The festival worked outside of traditional cultural spaces to transform two 17th century forts, churches, boats and the harbour itself into temporary homes for music, literature, film, visual art and performance. Marie commissioned an extensive programme of new and site responsive work during her tenure, building a bespoke gallery from industrial shipping containers, and presenting a large scale promenade production of Enda Walsh’s How These Desperate Men talk deep inside an operational metal perforation factory.

You can find information and films on commissioned projects below.

Other artists programmed include Kathy Prendergast, Pat Collins, Dan Canham, Roger McGough, David O’Doherty, Philip King and Nuala O’Connor, Mark O’Halloran, Fionnuala Flannegan, Neville Gabie, Joseph Walsh, Billy Cowie, Kevin Barry, Roy Foster, Hunt and Darton, Ant Hampton and Britt Hatzius, and the Elysian Quartet.
